how to worship the sun
Happy Solstice, friends. Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:
this week’s style icon:
What I’m clicking:
Punks in the age of Trump | Gay marriage, two years later | Sex on reality TV | Porn for pandas! | Lost in the Parisian catacombs | Sorry I’m not sorry for not liking Katy Perry | The world’s fakest city | How we talk about gender identity | Instagram’s favorite National Park
what I’m wanderlusting:
Thousand Islands, New York
what I’m coveting:
These giant earrings from The Gypsy Fawn
what I’m listening to:
Janet Mock’s Never Before podcast. So far I’ve only listened to the first episode with Tina Knowles-Lawson, but it’s great - especially if you’re a fan of Destiny’s Child.
what I’m reading:
Janelle Brown
This book is sort of like Gone Girl mixed with Big Little Lies. It’s such a page turner, but it’s definitely smarter than you’re average trashy thriller. One thing that disappointed me is that I think the “mystery” was too obvious. I figured it out right away and I think it could have used a little more subtlety to make the plot twist more of a surprise.
Did it make me cry: No.
Did it make me laugh: No.
Did it make me miss a subways stop: No, but it’s that kind of book.
Would I recommend it: Yes. I had so much fun reading this book and I couldn’t put it down.
Would I read it again: No.
Would it be a good movie: Yes! Somebody buy the rights to this ASAP. Cast Reese Witherspoon!
what I’m reading right now:
H Is For Hawk is STILL on my bedside table…but I’m going to finish it! Soon. I’m also reading the new Arundhati Roy - The Ministry of Utmost Happiness. It’s so, so good.
the best book I read in May:
the best book I read in April:
the best book I read in March:
the best book I read in February:
The Bone Clocks and Days of Abandonment
the best book I read in January:
